PanoPublisher 1.5
The PanoPublisher software has during the last months undergone regluar updates. Some major new features have been introduced. These include: themes with logos, fullscreen options for all formats, and improved caching.
It is now possible for each tour to have its own custom theme. Combined with the optional addition of a client logo, a complete theme can be developed to perfectly match another web site or brand. Themed tours take advantage of the same proven technology to manage and show 360 panoramas.
With the addition of a fullscreen option for Flash, all formats can now show 360 panoramas in a large size for quick downloads and fullscreen for total immersion. This completes the PanoPublisher set-up of providing a near-identical experience regardless of the chosen plug-in. Some differences remain in image resolution and player performance, but these are current restrictions of the respective technologies. Most general users will not notice the differences between Flash, Java and QuickTime versions.
The new and improved caching methods have ensured faster response times and quicker downloads. A custom, internal cache for XML is combined with a system-wide cache of pages to gain the best possible performance. PanoPublisher now largely serves up static files. In this case, static is much faster than dynamic.
Finally, a PanoPublisher software manual has been written to introduce all the features and options of the system. It is aimed at the end-user who commissions panoramas from 360visning.no and wants to include them on a new or existing web site. Easy cut-and-paste code examples with customizable code parameters are included. It will be released with a major new development early in the new year.
